CESSNA 170-172

The new Sensenich metal propeller, model M74DR, is now C.A.A. approved and available for both the Cessna 170 and 172 series airplanes. The new highly efficient high speed airfoil developed by Sensenich is incorporated in the model M74DR propeller.

Advantages of the M74DR propeller on the Cessna 170 and 172 airplanes are:

  1. INCREASED CRUISING SPEED. Increase cruising speed five miles per hour, without sacrificing rate of climb, using standard pitch M74DR propeller.* The increase is obtained at the same cruising R.P.M. currently used. Additional cruising speed can be obtained with the cruise pitch M74DR propeller, at a loss of approximately 30 feet per minute rate of climb.
  2. OR; INCREASED RATE OF CLIMB without sacrificing cruising speed, using take off pitch M74DR propeller.*
  3. INCREASED SERVICE LIFE. The Sensenich M74DR propeller is 74 inches in diameter, which is two inches less than the present standard installation. Shorter propeller diameter permits greater ground clearance, increasing the service life of the propeller. Shorter diameter also results in lower tip speeds, reducing the noise level.
  4. LESS WEIGHT. The Sensenich M74DR propeller weighs three pounds less than the present standard installation. Even though lighter in weight, higher endurance life is built into the propeller with the new Sensenich Airfoil section.
  5. No spinner change or modification required

* Compared with the present standard installation.
