| FRANKLIN SERVICE LETTER 72-2 | DATE: March, 1972 |
SUBJECT: Crankshaft Replacement for Engine Model 6A4-150-B3
The original crankshaft for the 6A4-150-B3, P/N 17919, is no longer available. It has been superceded by crankshaft P/N 20769. The diameter of the bolt hole circle of the 20769 and 17919 crankshaft propeller mounting flanges are not the same. Consequently, the 20769 crankshaft requires a propeller different from that which is used with the 17919 crankshaft. When the 150 is equipped with the 20769 crankshaft, the engine model designation is 6A4-150-B4. The propeller which has been approved for the B4 in the Stinson 108 series airplane, is a McCauley 1A170SFC. A Sensenich propeller M74DC is also approved for use on the 6A4-150-B4. We suggest you refer to a current copy of the Bellanca 14-13 FAA Type Certificate Data Sheet or the Summary of Supplemental Type Certificates issued by FAA to determine which propeller has been approved for the Bellanca 14-13 series airplane when the 6A4-150-B4 is installed in it.
