A Tour Of The Sensenich Facility

Milling

The raw forging is placed in a milling machine and milled parallel on both sides to the hub thickness specification for each specific propeller design within a .015 inch tolerance. This operation is extremely critical because the remaining manufacturing processes are referenced from this face.

A centering pin located on the milling machine accepts an indentation in the forging which centers the propeller. The two outer blades rest on clamping fixtures which were designed to level each specific forging.

After the milling operation is completed on the first side, the propeller is flipped onto a solid plate and milled, which gives a true parallel surface.
