Sensenich Propeller Mfg. Co.

A Tour Of The Sensenich Facility

Drilling The Propeller and Spacer

A number of Sensenich propellers need to be extended from the engine flange to clear the aircraft cowling. This necessitates Sensenich to manufacture several spacers of different lengths. The spacers are machined on the lathe (see left photo) to finished product except drilling of the bolt circle and steel pin holes.
The spacer is placed into a fixture (see photo on right) with two half-inch races to guide the drill for the steel pins. The propellers are drilled in the same fixture to assure perfect alignment between spacer and prop. Steel pins are placed in the spacer to later be attached to the propeller. See installation instructions for mounting spacers.
