70CM Series Propeller Update!

Always remember...no AD's or Service Bulletins on our prop!!

Designed for the Lycoming O-320 Series Engine

UPDATE:
Retesting of 70CM series scheduled for April 30 thru May 4!
We will have daily updates here to let everyone know what is going on. Since our equipment records data in real time, it won't take very long to see if the placard can be removed. Let's keep our fingers crossed and put this issue to rest!
ALSO remember that the placard is still there. Do not exceed 2600 RPM unless we release official word!

The 70CM series propeller was finalized and Type Certified for use on the Lycoming O-320 series engines, over a year ago; however, we still are asked if the Do Not Exceed 2600 RPM Placard will be removed. Although we have tried several times to remedy this placard, in the end, we always lose performance. This propeller is a performer! With normal use, the placard will not be a factor. Normally at altitude, the propeller will max out at 2600 full throttle straight and level. The placard is serious. We do not recommend using the propeller for aerobatics. We know you will exceed 2600 RPM with the nose down!

April 30, 2001:
We are GO as scheduled. Ken should be at Bernie's getting settled in. Hopefully we will get word on how the setup is going.

Ken's equipment didn't arrive until mid afternoon, so he spent the morning learning to rivit on a new RV-6 quickbuild kit that Bernie is working on. They will be spending most of Tuesday getting the equipment setup. They should be ready to fly on Wednesday!

May 2, 2001:
Ken's onboard PC that collects the data had a hard disc failure. He went out yesterday to buy a new one. We have sent all of his software to him and he should be getting it Thursday morning. All of the other equipment is hooked up and operational. Hopefully he will be flying the test on Thusday afternoon.

May 8, 2001:
We had the hard drive crash and got everything established except for having the ability to watch the data in real time. Ken and Bernie flew the test on Sunday. So right now the data is on the main computer locked in a trunk with the other equipment coming up I95 on a Yellow Freight truck.

July 17, 2001:
Ken is almost finished with the data. I would expect to hear something very shortly. Anyway, here are a few photos:

See the computer setting on the blue table! That's the bugger that gave us the trouble!

This would be Ken contemplating resignation at this point!

This would be the test prop mounted on Bernie's aircraft.

The 70CM also makes a very nice centerpiece at your next dinner party! This is actually one of our customers celebrating the arrival of his propeller!

July 30, 2001:
Unfortunately the data shows that the 2600 RPM restriction must stay. The data confirmed the original harmonic vibration. Aparently our equipment was functioning correctly when we originally tested the 70CM.

New From SensenichDirect

We now have available a new three piece spinner assembly designed specifically for the RV-6 series aircraft using our 70CM series propeller. For your convenience, the spinner is cut out with nut plates already attached. If you should require a replacement piece due to damage, you may purchase each part separately (they are interchangable). Much like the 70CM propeller, you must order the spinner assembly with propeller mounting bolt diameter in mind. The 3/8" bolt diameter is assembly number C2372 and the 7/16" bolt diameter is assembly number C2373. Remember this spinner comes complete, ready to install. Click on icon for drawing of spinner assembly. This drawing is for both C2372 and C2373 spinner assemblies.

This is only available from SensenichDirect!

For you RV-4 builders, we also have a front bulkhead available to accommodate Van's rear bulhead and spinner dome. Due to the thinner hub on our metal propeller, this change is necessary. This part must be purchased with mounting bolt diameter in mind. For 3/8" diameter bolts order C2360 Front Bulkhead and for 7/16" diameter bolts order C2361 Front Bulkhead. Click on icon for drawing of spinner assembly. This drawing is for both C2360 and C2361 spinner front bulkheads.

This is only available from SensenichDirect!

We have available the spinner cut-out templates here if you are using the Van's spinner domes. NOTE: Be sure to select the correct template for your project! They are different! The selections are:

Spinner cut out template for theRV-4 using our 70CM series propeller.

Spinner cut out template for theRV-6 / 6A using our 70CM series propeller.

Do not interchange these two templates. They are not the same!
