Penn Yan Aero TigerCub 180 Horsepower STC
For over 60 years pilots and FBOs who know aircraft have trusted Penn Yan Aero. The Penn Yan Aero TigerCub 180 horsepower STC is professionally engineered, FAA Approved, and includes full engine warranty. It allows for conversion of 1955 and later Piper PA-18-150 Super Cubs with 0-320 Series engine and airframe configuration to the more powerful 360 Series 180 horsepower engine. This results in a cooler, smoother running, more efficient, more powerful, and more valuable aircraft.
The O-360-C2A or C4P Conical engine can be used with your original 150 HP engine mount. Optionally, you may choose the O-360-A4P, A4M, or A4A engine with a new Dynafocal engine mount. Several engine options are available, just in case you have a spare engine in the barn. Propeller approval includes a 76 inch diameter. There will be no red arcs on the tachometer within the RPM operating range when using A4 or C4 series engines. The oil cooling capacity is increased and a new oil cooler is relocated near the left rear baffle, resulting in a decrease in both oil and cylinder head temperatures. The original fuel selector valve is modified to permit operation on both fuel tanks simultaneously, or either right or left tank individually. There is no change to the current minimum fuel quantity required for take off. Changing of fuel lines from the fuel tanks to the engine is not required. The original exhaust system can be re-used after a slight modification. A new light weight, but heavy duty starter that will crank when it's cold is supplied. This STC is approved for wheels, skis, or floats and is compatible with the ThrustLine STC.
The Penn Yan Aero TigerCub STC does not require changes in fuel line sizes, placards restricting minimum fuel required for take off, or have RPM restrictions.
